Welcome to an update, the first for many a month. What a strange year it has been, I hope you are keeping well. As I write we are operating full steam ahead and hoping that the latest COVID outbreak doesn’t result in further restrictions coming up to Christmas.
I reported in July that we had been incredibly busy following the easing of restrictions. This level of activity has continued throughout the year and we have enjoyed what is probably the busiest spell we have seen at the showroom. We currently have pianos due for delivery right up to and including Christmas Eve. It has been such an exciting period at the showroom, it would be wonderful if it continued like this into the New Year.
With continuing supply problems following the COVID outbreaks we have been unable to get some of our usual stock, mainly the Kawai pianos. This has opened other opportunities and we have been bringing in quality used pianos from Germany which has been very enjoyable. Our good friend Konrad is able to source quality used pianos for us through his network of dealers throughout Europe. Recent additions have been uprights from Grotrian-Steinweg and Sauter and a truly magnificent Wilh. Steinberg grand piano with a polished Guyana Rosewood cabinet. This is a spectacular instrument and a beautiful furniture piece, I am delighted to have it in the showroom.
During this period our P series Wilh. Steinberg uprights have been very popular. We recently transported eight of their uprights into the showroom, most have been selected and more are due with us next week. These uprights are exceptional value, they compare with far more expensive pianos in terms of their musical performance, it is no wonder that they have been so popular. With so many fine, and expensive pianos in our showroom it is a credit to their musical quality that they are chosen so regularly, I truly believe they are the most impressive value for money piano in the market at present. So many pianos have been selected since my last update, so many wonderful people and musicians have visited and selected their pianos, Michelle and I have loved it. Our fabulous restored Grotrian-Steinweg upright was chosen last week by a wonderful local piano teacher, one of the best matches of piano and player that I can remember, it was a joy to see and hear. We are planning on restoring a model K Steinway to replace this fine piano. The restored burr walnut Bechstein upright was delivered recently, again to someone who was perfectly matched for it. There is no greater joy for us than to see an emotional connection with a piano, it is really what we are all about.
Piano tuning is incredibly busy but remains an absolute joy. My day started today with a very fine restored piano that we supplied and good conversation over coffee and mince pies. It is a charmed life! All of our diaries are full and we are making ground trying to catch up from the lockdowns earlier in the year.
There is so much more to tell but with a stack of paperwork next to me I must finish this and start other tasks. I will hope to provide more regular updates next year and Michelle is planning to keep our Facebook page more up to date too! As ever, we are always happy to welcome new and old customers to the showroom, I can’t wait to see what the New Year has in store for us.
I wish you all a Happy and peaceful Christmas and all best wishes for the New Year.
